Explore ancient Hawaiian He'eia Fishpond in Kane'ohe Bay by kayak in this unique and authentic guided ocean eco-adventure. Learn the Hawaiian language and culture associated with this 800 year old traditional Hawaiian marvel of engineering, and see it in a way that nobody else gets to: by sea while kayaking around the fishpond wall. Your guides will take you to reefs that skirt the fishpond, and you even get to walk along the volcanic rock wall for a completely different perspective on the fishpond. Ideal for all ages and experience levels!Complimentary transportation is included to and from all Waikiki hotels, so let us pick you up in the morning if you like. Once you arrive at He'eia State Park in Kane'ohe, our friendly staff will get you all checked in. Put on sunscreen, get changed into your bathing suit, use the restrooms, and you're ready to go. The adventure will start with your guides getting the group together and sharing a traditional Hawaiian "pule", or blessing before you get in the water. Your guide will also provide a great paddling instruction and warm up before you launch. Personal, hands on instruction and safe, calm waters make this tour ideal for families with young children, and all ages and experience levels. After launching from our waterfront where all your kayaks and gear and set up and waiting for you, you paddle with your guides around the outer perimeter of the 800 year old volcanic rock fishpond wall. Along the way your guides will tell you about the unique cultural history and Hawaiian language associated with the fishpond. On the far side of the wall, a small beach awaits where you'll land, and have a snack and drink. From there, walk along the wall with your guides for a completely different view of the fishpond and beautiful Kealohi Point (He'eia State Park). Your guides will tell you how a traditional Hawaiian fishpond is built and maintained, and you even get to have a hands-on demonstration of different practices and techniques; maybe even try to catch fish from the pond! From there it's back to the kayaks, and you'll paddle back to land at He'eia, where our famous BBQ lunch awaits! Make sure you work up an appetite... Activity time from check in to lunch is roughly 4 hours (3 hours on the water, with an additional hour for lunch). Including transportation, from pick-up to drop off, total activity time is roughly 6 hours.
