In this tour, you will hike Santa Maria Volcano in the valley of Almolonga from where you will enjoy beautiful views of Quetzaltenango. The tour has three departure times and two intensity levels.
During this tour you may choose to go on a more difficult hike which lasts about 4 hours, or an easier hike which lasts 2 hours. You will be picked up from your hotel and be driven for about 20 minutes before starting the hike.
This is a difficult hike departing at 5:00 am from place of lodging in Xela, after 20 minutes drive start walking, scaled from 3 to about 4 hours on a path of pine trees and rocks from the top of the mountain you can appreciate the view of Xela "Quetzaltenango", view of Santa Maria volcano, the valley of Almolonga among others, this is an adventure that normally half a day, offering customers 3 options:
Option A: (Difficult Walk)
Difficult walk lasting between 3 to 4 hours to the top of the volcano on a path of trees and rocks.
Itinerary:
5:00 am - Departure from your hotel and drive to Canton Xetuj.
5:30 am - You will start the hike at an altitude of 2,600 meters. The hike will last about 3 hours.
6:30 am - Rest stop at El Pajonal.
8:30 am - Arrive at the peak. Time to rest, eat and take pictures.
9:30 am - Begin the descent that lasts approximately 2 hours
12:30 pm - Hotel drop off
Option B & C (Easy Walk):
This is an easier hike which lasts about 2 hours. You will only hike to the rocky side of the volcano where you can also have a wonderful view.
