Leave Ponta Delgada towards the west part of the island and road trip up the Sete Cidades volcano across relaxing green pastures.
The trail starts near the top of the volcanic complex and has a first section with five small lakes in sequence, beautiful hidden gems unknown to most Azores visitors. From the mountains you’ll also enjoy great views of a large part of São Miguel island.
We then reach the largest volcano crater in the Azores. Prepare for a breathtaking moment at the first sight of Sete Cidades twin lakes from a very special viewpoint. Then walk around the rim of the crater, for more stunning perspectives and different angles over the lakes.
