Explore historic Tucson on this three-hour guided bike tour.  Visit ancient Hohokam settlements, Spanish pueblos, and the site of a downtown shootout where an infamous gangster met his end.  Along the way, discover why this desert city was founded, learn the origin of Southwestern Deco architecture and stop for warm, home-made tortillas at a family restaurant.

Historic Tucson has been a melting pot of people and cultures for hundreds of years.  Located near ancient Native American settlements, the area has been home to Spanish explorers, Mexican settlers, and American immigrants from Europe seeking space and freedom in the clear desert air.  From Early September to late May, this mostly flat, guided bike tour starts with a short safety orientation, a helmet, and a bike appropriately sized by your height.  Starting in the centrally located 4th Avenue shopping district, the tour begins with a brief overview of the city and why the first people chose this area along Santa Cruz river for a settlement in the first place.

As you explore the historic barrios, you will learn why the Spanish fortified the area when they built their Presidio and how the fort gave birth to the Chimichanga.  Learn about Southwestern Deco and see the building where the art form was ultimately perfected.  Ride over the massive rattlesnake bridge, hear tales of bank robbers and outlaws and take pictures of colorful homes ranging in style from Queen Anne to Greek Revival.  Your professional, friendly guide will show you the best places to eat, shop, explore, and adventure while you safely navigate the flat, 11-mile terrain.  End the day with home-made tortillas (except on Sunday), finishing your ride back on 4th Avenue just in time to grab a delicious lunch or head to happy hour.  This small group tour of no more than seven riders will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about colorful, historic Tucson.
