Choose from a morning or afternoon horse trek, then set off by minivan from central Florence into the Chianti countryside to begin your tour. Widely considered home to some of Italy’s most beautiful scenery, Chianti boasts rolling hills, dense forests, fertile soils, grape-laden vines and centuries-old olive groves.

After a 45-minute drive out of Florence, arrive at the stables where your horse awaits. Listen to a brief safety introduction and enjoy a 30-minute orientation lesson, during which you’ll have the chance to get acquainted with your horse. The stables cater for riders of all abilities and beginners are very welcome — previous riding experience is not necessary. Riding hats (helmets) are provided free of charge and casual clothes can be worn.

Head out from the stables on horseback with your guide and explore the open fields and forested trails of the Chianti countryside. Pass ancient olive groves and row after row of vineyards, and gain insight into the rural heart of Tuscany.

After one hour on horseback, alight and hop back into your minivan for the onward journey to a prestigious local winery. Enjoy a guided tour of the cellars where barrels of fine wines lie slowly maturing and listen as your guide details the Chianti region’s rich winemaking heritage and traditions.

Drive onward for five minutes to a boutique winery in the cellars of a magnificent Italian villa, surrounded on all sides by rolling hills, cypress trees, vineyards and olive groves. Sit down to a delicious lunch or dinner (depending on option selected) of traditional Tuscan specialities such as Pecorino cheese, prosciutto, salami and bruschetta, and enjoy a tasting session of some of the finest Chianti wines. (The wine tasting fee is included in the tour and wines are also for sale). Listen to an introduction on the theory of wine-tasting and gain insight into the complex fruit flavors at play in your glass.

At the conclusion of your meal, take the 35-minute journey back to central Florence by minivan, where your tour will come to an end.
