This “Learn to Horseback Ride” experience is ideal for beginners, novice riders and adventure seekers looking to create a special vacation memory while enjoying the thrill and unique feeling of horsemanship and being around horses. Your 2-hour experience offers a complete horse education from grooming and ground work to a lesson in the ring with an experienced trainer, topped off with a guided horseback ride on the trails. Your journey begins with introductions (to your horse!) and some basic ground work involving grooming the horse, tacking up (cowboy-speak for putting on the saddle!) and generally allowing the horse to “get to know you”.

Next up, your trail guide will assist you in mounting up your horse and will walk you through a 40-minute lesson/safety guideline in the outdoor riding ring. This allows you time to adjust to being in the saddle, while also learning some of the very basics such as; turning, holding the reins, going up and down hills and stopping.

The relaxing 70-minute horseback trail ride is at a gentle walking pace which allows for plenty of opportunity to take in the spectacular Ottawa Valley scenery while enjoying the tranquility and beauty of all that a horse can offer.

Back at the ranch, you guide can take photos while you finish off your adventure by helping to remove the saddles, cool down your horse with a quick “shower” and maybe even tip your horse with an apple of carrot! Make a memory to last a lifetime!

Plan on a start-to-finish experience of approximately 2 hours after departure.

Please note: Helmets are mandatory for all riders and we provide them at no additional charge. Our total focus in on your safety and the horses safety at all times. All horses are assigned by the trail guide (you do not get to pick your horse).

All riders MUST provide their own proper riding attire including footwear with a closed toe/heel, and full length jeans or pants, t-shirt or western shirt. No flip flops, sandals or running shoes are permitted. No shorts, bikini tops or swimming trunks are permitted.
