Discover Houston’s amazing web of underground tunnels on this guided walking tour. Learn about Houston’s history, culture and architecture as you follow your knowledgeable guide through the tunnel system to visit the Chase Bank Building, Pennzoil Place and One Shell Plaza. Enjoy sweeping views from Chase Tower’s sky lobby -- the highest in Texas -- and stop by Hermann Square Park and City Hall. Kick off your Houston tour at Georgia’s Market, where you’ll learn about the epic Downtown Houston Tunnel System, which gives downtown workers an escape from the heat.

Take a walk down Main Street to the Chase Bank Building, where you’ll admire frescoes and a stained-glass window depicting Texas’ history amid the elegant Art-Deco interior.

Then, descend 20 feet (6 meters) below the streets into the underground tunnel system. Walk through the air-conditioned tunnel to the Chase Tower, Texas’ tallest building. Head inside the massive tower and ride the elevator up to the 60th-floor sky lobby, where you’ll take in sweeping views of the city skyline. Return to the lobby and pause for a photo in front of Spanish painter Joan Miro’s brightly colored ‘Personage and Birds’ sculpture.

Following your guide, walk to Philip Johnson’s architectural masterpiece, the award-winning skyscrapers of Pennzoil Place. From there, it is back into the tunnels where you'll visit One Shell Plaza and meet the owners of an underground gift shop before taking an escalator up to the street.

Enjoy a stroll through Hermann Square Park to visit City Hall and to Wells Fargo Plaza, the tallest all-glass building in the Western Hemisphere.

Descend back into the tunnel and walk through the food court, where you can enjoy lunch (own expense) as you watch the hum of Houston’s work force walk by. Ascend back above ground and end your tour with a new appreciation of Houston's unique style and way of life.
