Huay Tho is Krabi’s beautiful national park which lies at the foot of Phanom Bencha mountain. It is an abundant wildlife area far from the hustle and bustle of tourist crowds. After the trekking on your elephant for an hour, visit the 7-level Huay Tho Waterfall with the option to take a dip and cool off. Combine the elephant trek with a baby elephant show, or a visit to Tiger Cave Temple and Khao Khanab Nam Mountains in the Krabi river. Blessed with untouched lush forests and mountain ranges, Krabi’s National Park is an escape from the crowds.

It also boasts Krabi’s highest altitude at 1,397 meters above the sea level, home to natural wonders like waterfalls, streams and caves. A perfect habitat for wild animals from Asian tapirs, Sumatran serows, Asiatic black bears and 218 bird species such as eagles, hornbills and woodpeckers.

The elephant camp is situated in the Huay Tho village which is only a 30-minute drive from Krabi town and is definitely worth a visit for those who are concerned about elephant welfare. The elephants belong to the locals and are treated like a family.

The one hour trek will take you through the forest at the foot of Phanom Bencha mountain, following the river for part of the way. After the trek, spend some time with the elephants with the option to to feed the elephants banana’s as a treat, or to enjoy a baby elephant show.

Next is a short trek to visit the seven-level Huay Tho waterfall, where you can swim and refresh under the fall. A cool dip in the waterfall ponds is the perfect way to cool off and relax while taking in the surrounding vista of the national park, with it's 1,500 fruit trees and tropical flora and fauna.

Combine the elephant trek with a visit to Tiger Cave Temple which is set in a beautiful forest. The temple is in fact a famous meditation center, monks and nuns come from all over Thailand to retreat here. Continue by car to Krabi Town and cruise by longtail boat to the famous Khao Kanab Naam Mountains, Krabi’s most famous landmarks. These majestic natural wonders act as the gateway to Krabi city with the river running between the two limestone cliffs forming a widely photographed beauty spot.
