Experience spectacular ice cave and beautiful blue forms inside of Vatnajökull, the largest glacier in Europe, this will almost certainly be one of your most memorable experience whilst in Iceland. Make sure you bring your camera as there will be plenty of photo opportunities.From the meeting point at farm Hólmur we will drive 9 km to the roots of Fláajökull, from there we will walk through beautiful Icelandic landscape heading to the ice cave. The walk to the cave will take 50-75 minutes with approximately 160 meters of elevation gain, where after you will be rewarded with an amazing ice cave. There we will spend 30-40 minutes to enjoy the ice cave and take some photographs.
Along the way you will learn about the glacier’s history and how the glacier has developed through the last century.
