Close to 2 million Jews came to New York City in the 4 decades following.

The new immigrants mostly form Poland and Russia found the streets to be overcrowded with people and pushcarts. Then in 1924 strict quotas with restrictive immigration laws limited their entrance into the promised land (America). Come hear the stories of this great migration from Europe based on family and hard work that helped this community assimilate and grow. They built a a unique community where they established synagogues, schools, banks and businesses. From their dreams and hopes they created a vibrant and complex culture that was known as the Jewish Lower East Side. tales of how immigrants struggled with it's rich history and cultural diversity.
