Spend four days blissfully sailing around the San Juan Islands on a beautiful & unique catamaran with a special focus on finding the resident Orca (Killer Whale) pods and other exceptional wildlife in the San Juan Islands.  Three private cabins and a chef make for a relaxing and care free adventure with opportunities for getting off the boat every day to go hiking, exploring or beach combing.Day 1 we meet at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal at 10am to load and have a safety talk.  Once under-way we will sail, (or motor if no wind) to our first anchorage either at the North or South end of the San Juan Island archipelago. Along the way you will enjoy a lovely lunch prepared by your chef.  Each day Captain Todd will explain where we are headed and why he is choosing that particular route.   Generally routes are chosen to maximize using the wind to sail and minimizing using the motors.  Once at our evening anchorage there is an opportunity to get off the boat to go for a hike or do some beach combing while the chef prepares appetizers and dinner.  If you brought any grown up beverages, they are often enjoyed while watching the beautiful sunset or alpenglow radiating off Mount Baker.

Days 2 & 3 observing the endangered Southern Resident Killer Whales is our priority.  Whale watching aboard the Gato Verde is unique because of the combination of sails and virtually silent electric motors. You can observe the Orcas knowing that we are contributing practically no noise or pollution compared with what an average whale watching boat creates. On a typical 3 day trip with 8 people aboard we burn less fuel than a typical large whale watching vessel burns in about 1 hour!  We also have the ability to listen to the Killer Whale's underwater world with our amplified hydrophone...hear the orcas hunt, navigate and communicate...it is amazing.  Of course your chef will be keeping you well fed throughout the day.  Like all days you will have the opportunity to get off the boat and if crab season is open we might drop a trap or two to have a special dinner treat from the sea.

Day 4 is spent sailing back to Bellingham, possibly with an island stop if we have the time and or inclination.  Usually we arrive back at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal between 4pm and 5pm.
