The walking tour will start from the Basilica of St. Peter. The majestic piazza and Bernini’s colonnade form the backdrop to the biggest church in Christendom. In the Basilica there are works by Bernini, a series of mosaics and monuments erected in honor of Popes. Here are concentrated works of Michelangelo’s famous Pieta and the magnificent Dome, where you can enjoy the magnificent panorama of Rome.

Another important stop is the Basilica of Saint Mary Major, extraordinary masterpiece of art and architecture of Early Christian. The basilica is the only one among the major basilicas of Rome, to preserve the original structures of his time, though enriched with later additions: the splendid mosaics of the central nave, the triumphal arch dating from the fifth century AD.

The tour will continue to the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the oldest and most important church in the West. This cathedral is considered a masterpiece of Borromini, December 13, 2015; the opening of the Holy Door will coincide with the symbolic opening of the Holy Door in all the cathedrals in the world. Once outside the Basilica, you will visit the Holy Steps and the Holy of Holies, the private chapel of the popes, considered one of the holiest places in the world.
