Journey up to the 3,400-foot (1,036-meter) level of Waimea Canyon, “the Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” on this shore excursion from Nawiliwili Harbor. Then drive past Old Koloa Town and Waimea to experience some of Kauai’s history before arriving at Spouting Horn, where you’ll watch water soar up to 50 feet (15 meters) from a small opening at the surface of a lava shelf. Finally, cruise down the Wailua River to the lush beauty of Fern Grotto, and enjoy the serene beauty of this piece of Kauai. Explore the natural wonders of Kauai on this two-day, nine-hour shore excursion from Nawiliwili Harbor. You’ll hike up Waimea Canyon, see Spouting Horn and cruise down Wailua River to see Fern Grotto and Opaekaa Falls.

At 14 miles long (22.5 kilometers), 1 mile wide (1.6 kilometers), and more than 3,600 feet (1,097 meters) deep, Waimea Canyon is the largest canyon in the Pacific and an awe-inspiring geologic gem. The Waimea Canyon Lookout provides breathtaking views of deep valleys and rugged crags. As you hike, you can enjoy spectacular views of the canyon from numerous lookouts and trails.

After exploring the wonders of Waimea Canyon, you’ll take a visual tour of Kauai, driving past Old Koloa Town, Hawaii’s first sugarcane plantation, and Waimea, the town where Captain Cook first landed in Hawaii in 1778.

Explore another of Kauai’s natural wonders at Spouting Horn, an ocean blow hole near Po’ipu Beach. At Spouting Horn, water rushes under a lava shelf and surges through a small opening at the surface, spewing water up to 50 feet (15 meters) into the air and making a hissing sound.

On Friday your Kauai shore excursion finishes with a cruise down the Wailua River, which twists by beautiful waterfalls and rainforest landscapes along Kauai’s east side. As you travel down the 2-mile (3.2-kilometer) river, you’ll see the Opaekaa Falls and Wailua Falls. Your guide will then bring you to the Fern Grotto, a unique fern-covered cave set in a tropical garden.
