Go to the home of Iditarod musher Travis Beals and watch first hand as your dog team takes a series of commands that will leave you spell bound. Learn what “Gee” and “Haw” mean, stop at an active eagle’s nest, enjoy a multi-media presentation on dog mushing and cuddle some adorable husky puppies!

As the longest and most famous sled dog race in North America, the Iditerod Trail draws thousands of spectators along various parts of its route who enthusiastically cheer on the courageous men and women who push themselves to the brink of exhaustion in an effort to complete the massive undertaking.  Now, you can learn first hand what it would be like to experience life on the trail on this small group sled ride and kennel tour.

Your tour starts with an introduction to the team at the Turning Heads Kennel.  You will meet musher Travis Beals who, along with his partner Sarah, manages the professional kennel with more than 50 huskies.  Meet the dogs, the teammates and compatriots to every musher, and spend a little time playing and cuddling with their puppies.  You will watch a short multi-media presentation about the trail and Travis's own personal experiences completing it.  After a short work exploring the property, you will climb aboard the sled and go for a 1.5 mile ride pulled by huskies, passing by an active eagles nest and gorgeous scenery.  Although the ride is a far cry from the cold and deprivation many mushers experience when out on the trail, you will gain an appreciation and understanding of what the teams must go through in completing the race. After approximately an hour and half, your tour ends and you are welcome to hang out a little longer and socialize with the friendly dogs.  Lunch is included with a premium upgrade.
