Experience some of Kobe’s best areas on this full-day walking tour. You’ll get the inside scoop on one of Japan’s largest and most fascinating cities from your guide. Spend the day strolling Kobe’s historic districts and a picturesque waterfront park, enjoying a buffet lunch and tasting sake.Make your way to Kobe’s Sannomiya Terminal Hotel, where you’ll meet your guide and the rest of your group. Set off on foot for the historic Kitano-chō (Kitano-Ijinkan) district at the base of the Rokko mountains. Admire more than a dozen 19th-century mansions that once housed foreign diplomats and are now open to the public as museums. Spend an hour perusing the ornate structures. Listen to your guide detail the history of the area as you walk to your next stop.
Enjoy an hour-long buffet lunch as you mingle with the other travelers in your group and learn about the local culture from your guide. Walk off lunch in Meriken Park, a scenic stretch along the waterfront that’s home to the Kobe Port Tower and Kobe Maritime Museum. Explore the area for an hour and make a brief stop at a memorial to victims of the Great Hanshin Earthquake of 1995. Then take a short train ride from Sannomiya Station to Sumiyoshi Station to visit Kobe’s Hakutsuru Sake Brewery Museum, where you’ll taste traditional Japanese sake and learn about its 2,200-year history and how it is made.
By the end of the tour, you’ll have a solid grasp on Kobe’s distinctive culture. The tour concludes at Sumiyoshi Station, where train tickets to Sannomiya Station will be distributed.
