Start your tour exploring the old town of Lisbon with its many historic monuments and beautiful viewpoints. Marvel at the ornate façade of the Cathedral, then head to the city's ancient castle. Enjoy the stunning view from the Portas do Sol (Gates of the Sun) in the Alfama district and continue to the Miradouro da Graça for more panoramic views. Then pass the monastery of São Vicente de Fora and the 17th-century National Pantheon. Cruise the historic streets of Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood, and discover the site of the Museu do Fado, dedicated to Portugal’s folk music traditions. Go to the Santa Apolónia railway station, the oldest train terminus in Lisbon, and then head into the elegant Lisbon Baixa and find tree-lined boulevards full of cafés and shops.
Now continue to Martim Moniz, the most multicultural area in town. Pass the beautiful Rossio square, have a look at the iconic funicular Elevador da Gloría, and see the iron Santa Justa lift, which allows for a panoramic view above the city. Enter the Chiado district and visit the Gothic ruins of the Convento do Carmo. Continue to Praça Luís de Camões and Bairro Alto, the famous nightlife district of Lisbon, which also hosts one of the most beautiful viewpoints of the city: the Miradouro São Pedro de Alcântara.
After the gardens of Príncipe Real you drive by the Portuguese Parliament and on to the spectacular Praça do Comercio with its wide open space alongside the river. Enjoy the view and head back to the shop when you are ready!
