Discover the local food, real life, architecture, history and multicultural origins of Livorno on this unique and accessible tour.Meet your guide and stop in one of the many bars of the city for an optional breakfast (not included) with cappuccino or espresso coffee and a delicious local pastry, discussing about this Italian morning ritual. Continue your day visiting the characteristic street Via Madonna, located in the heart of Livorno and symbol of the multicultural origins of this unique city. See the remains of the old Armenian and the Greek United Church, the Church of the Madonna and its four altars dedicated to the French, Corsican, Portuguese and Dutch Nations. This street is an important testimony of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among communities.

Pass through the lively outdoor Fruit and Vegetable Market following the inviting smell of the 'frati', typical handmade sweet fritters, and other fried street food called scagliozzi (fried polenta). Then proceed to the covered historic Central Market (Mercato delle Vettovaglie), an amazing liberty style building designed in the 19th century, located along the navigable Fosso Reale (Royal Canal). Accompanied by your guide you will discover the authentic local food and get a taste of Livornese life! Enjoy the happy chaos of the vendors and lose yourself in the overwhelming sights and smells of this beautiful place. You will find also numerous Jewish products which are testimony to Livorno's large Jewish population, who, like other religions, have settled in the city.

End your tour with a delicious street food tasting. Stop in a typical Torteria and enjoy a local specialty known as Torta di Ceci, a kind of pancake made from chick peas and traditionally served in bread with a glass of Spuma (5&5) ; the curious name referring to the original value, 5 cents of cake and bread.

Don't miss to try the legendary and real Livornese ponce, a local drink made with coffee and rum (included)
