This Loch Lomond and Whisky half day tour gives you the opportunity to experience the production, smells and flavors of Glengoyne Whisky Distillery and Loch Lomond National Park in one afternoon from Glasgow city centre.

This tour is ideal for those who are short of time and want a taste of the Highlands, a visit to a Whisky distillery and the opportunity to breathe the air and experience the open space of one of Scotland’s most famous Lochs. The tour departs from Glasgow city centre at 1:15pm and starts by following the banks of the Clyde, the river that was at the heart of Glasgow’s development as the second city of the British Empire. The riverbanks were once home to the shipyards and heavy manufacturing factories that brought great wealth to the city but most of these have long gone and are now being redeveloped for housing, leisure and tourism.

Only a short distance outside the city we reach the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty sitting on the boundary betwee the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland and is now a managed and sustainable environment for visitors and local people, right on the doorstep of Glasgow. Here there are options for walks along the banks of the loch or the chance just to sit with a drink and admire the wonderful views from Loch Lomond Shores.

From here travel into the Campsie Hills to Glengoyne Whisky Distillery, sitting beneath Dumgoyne, the remains of an ancient volcano. Glengoyne produces a Highland single malt whisky from water that runs out of the volcanic rocks behind the distillery. The tour here will explain some of the secrets behind the making of Scotland’s national drink. From here return to Glasgow for 6pm
