On the East side of Madeira lies a really popular tour which offers dramatic mountain and forest views, as well as some of the best coastal views available on the island. The tour, which includes a three-course meal, is done in the language of your choice, in a modern air-conditioned minibus that only seats 8 people plus the guide/driver. Pick-up from the hotels is between 8 and 9am. The first stop will be at a viewpoint above Funchal. We then make our way to Camacha, famous for its beautiful wicker works, and stop to have a look around. Then take a scenic drive up to Poiso where the start of the Laurissilva forest can be found.

After this we will make our way to the majestic views of Pico do Arieiro. Pico do Arieiro is the third highest peak on the island, standing 1818 meters. Next is what some consider to be the most beautiful spot on the island, Ribeiro Frio. Here we will stop to visit a trout farm and do a levada walk to the Balcões.

Following the walk we make our way to Santana to see its famous A-framed cottages and then continue along the northern coastal road to Faial. Here we will stop for lunch at a famous restaurant on the island called Grutas do Faial, which means the caves of Faial. A delicious three-course lunch is served along with a very good locally made table wine.

After lunch we will make our way to the most eastern part of the island, Ponta de São Lourenco, and enjoy the views of the cliffs. One can see both the south side and the north side from here as well as Porto Santo, the small island adjacent to Madeira. Our last stop will be a famous viewpoint above Machico.

You arrive back to your hotel by 5pm. Our first stop back is at the harbor before 4:30pm.
