There are several Mayan ruins in El Salvador and I would recommend you to visit this two wonderful places: San Andres, Tazumal and Joya de Ceren.
Joya de Ceren ruins is a UNESCO Heritage site comparable to Pompeii in Italy, it features and incredible intact farming community that was preserved for centuries under thick layers of volcanic ash.
Tazumal and San Andres are archaeological sites locates 20 miles from Santa Ana city, those complex are made of a series of ancient buildings which were regarded as the best preserved Mayan Ruins of El Salvador.
We will spend approximately 2 hours in each town. At the lunch time you will have free time to buy some local food. We will go back to Santa Ana at 4 pm.
