During the ascent, different kinds of vegetation can be noted: flowering, fertile citrus groves, vineyards, fruit trees and orchards, chestnut woods, beech woods, pine woods spread right up to the highest point. Then it is almost desert-like, where the lava is sometimes overgrown by juniper bushes and astragalus.

You will reach 2.000 m by bus and then walk around the extinct craters, called Silvestri Craters. You will have around 2 hours on Mount Etna. During this time you can keep walking around the craters, have a drink enjoying the fresh and healthy air and/or buy some souvenirs or typical products, like honey or similar, in the shops up there. Return to Taormina around 1.30 pm
