At 3,792 feet (1156m) Mount Warning dominates the Byron Bay hinterland. As Byron Bay is the most easterly point of Australia, Mount Warning is the highest point in the region and this is where the sun first hits mainland Australia. The 5.6 mile (9km) roundtrip self-guided will take approximately 4 hours. This walk is not just for the very fit. It can be quite challenging but you can take it at your own pace and the paths are configured into a zigzag so that you are walking a gentle incline. When you reach the top of Mount Warning, you will be rewarded with 360 degree views from the hinterland to the ocean, they never fails to inspire!
