This is a five-hour fully guided walking/subway tour of Queens, one of New York City’s five boroughs. Here, over 140 languages are spoken, making it one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in NYC. You will see the world without leaving Queens. On our New York tour you will walk and ride the subway along the #7 Flushing line. This line is known as the International Express. Every stop you make along the line immerses you in another culture.

This is a five-hour fully guided walking/subway tour of Queens, one of New York City’s five boroughs. Here, over 140 languages are spoken, making it one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in NYC. You will see the world without leaving Queens. On our New York tour you will walk and ride the subway along the #7 Flushing line. This line is known as the International Express. On our journey you will visit Little Korea, Thailand, Ireland, Colombia, Mexico, India, and finally Flushing, Queens the Best Chinatown in NYC.
The tour begins at the clock in Grand Central Station where you will hook up with the #7. Long Island City is our first stop directly across from the UN, it’s a great photo-op with stunning views of Manhattan. Then it’s off to Sunnyside, a diverse neighborhood featuring Turkish, Italian, Irish and Korean cuisine. Woodside is next, home to a large Irish population as well as many ex-pat Filipino’s living in Little Manila. Woodside also boasts some of the best Thai food in NYC.
You'll re-board our International Express and train to Jackson Heights with its enormous Indian population. You can close your eyes and imagine that you are actually there; this area teems with restaurants, and local food stores.
Our next stop is 82nd Street; the neighborhoods of Jackson Heights and Corona are home to large populations of Latin American immigrants, particularly Colombians and Mexicans. Walk along Roosevelt Avenue and you’ll hear earfuls of ranchera and cumbia pulsing from the restaurants and shops that line the street. We can stop at a taco stand for a snack, or try on real Mexican cowboy boots at a local leather store.
Back onto our now familiar #7 train to Willets point and Citi Field, home of the National League Champion New York Mets; it is also the stop for Arthur Ashe Stadium, and Flushing Meadow Park where the 1939 and 1964 World’s Fairs were held. If time permits we’ll take a stroll over to the Iron Triangle, a used auto parts district where the broken sidewalks and crumbling infrastructure belie a thriving metropolis of scrap yards and repair shops. Talk about stepping into another country, it’s a step back in time.
Our last stop is Main Street in Flushing and the “Best Chinatown” in NYC. Your immersion in Asian culture is complete as we walk the street listening to snippets of conversation and stopping to taste sticky buns and other treats. Nearby, on Northern Blvd are the historic Friends Meeting House and old Flushing Town Hall.
As the tour ends your guide will return you to the Flushing Line for your trip back to Manhattan. It’s a short jaunt back to the city, and as you peer out the windows across the rooftops of Queens you will have an appreciation of the ethnic diversity of our wonderful city and why it is such a fantastic place to visit. Don’t forget to bring an unlimited Metrocard, and get ready to roll along the #7 line.
