Discover hidden shops and resources (hint: many stores do not have a storefront!) in and around the New York Garment District. (Out-of-neighborhood fabric and craft stores can also be included upon request.) Tours are led by professional costume and fashion designers who are well-versed in garment industry resources and can offer advice on which store is best for fine silks, which shop sells crazy colored Velcro, which one has great zippers, and who'll cover buttons while you wait.
Private tour participants will have the opportunity to shop for some or all of the following: Fabrics, ribbons and trims, notions, sewing supplies, zippers, buttons, patterns, pattern making supplies, beads, jewelry findings, crystals, sequins, sewing and fashion-related books, feathers, silk flowers, craft supplies, quilting fabrics, sewing tools, and more. Tour includes a custom itinerary tailored to each participant’s specific interests and/or sewing projects.
This tour is a hands-on shopping experience, with extended time for browsing and buying in a number of fabric and trim stores in and around the NYC Garment District. If requested, guides can also include neighborhood history and trivia along the way, but shopping is the primary focus of the tour.
