The Underground Railroad was a network of secret routes that led slaves of African descent to freedom. And that border between slavery and freedom ran through Niagara, where somewhere between 30,000 and 100,000 people crossed over to British territory to gain their freedom.

Start your tour with hotel pickup by comfortable minivan and then enter a time machine and travel back to the 19th century, when the Underground Railroad was shuttling slaves to freedom across the border. Your guides portray ‘conductors,’ as they were known in the days of the Underground Railroad. They don period garb to give a better, deeper sense of the history. See the important sites in the area, such as the suspension bridge over the Niagara River that many erstwhile slaves used in their final steps on the Underground Railroad.

You’ll also stop by the famed Niagara Falls, not just for a fantastic photo opportunity, but to learn about how the falls aided the Underground Railroad. When your tour ends, you’ll be dropped back at your hotel.
