Climb on board our comfortable passenger van in Sonoma County with a handful of other visitors and spend a day exploring the friendly Northern Sonoma wine regions including Russian River and Dry Creek Valley and learn all about the wonderful world of wine, from wine tasting to wine production, barrel aging and grape farming.
Most of our Northern Sonoma wine tours visit 4 different wineries. At the first stop we often tour the wine production area of a larger brand name and see how grapes turn into wine. After one tour, it’s on to wine tasting and exploring the back road wine country with visits to a few boutique, small production family wineries--the true "hidden gems" of Sonoma County wine country!
Your wine educator will entertain you and tell you all about Sonoma wine country and the rich history we have. Accompanied the entire day, your guide can answer any questions that come up during your Northern Sonoma winery tour. There’s no wrong way to drink wine, but we'll demonstrate a few simple ways you can get more pleasure from your glass of wine—but don’t worry there’s no test!
For lunch you can purchase local Sonoma County cheese and fresh bread or a gourmet sandwich to enjoy as a picnic in the vineyards, or else visit one of the many outstanding Healdsburg restaurants for an unforgettable meal. Most of our clients spend around just $10 for an amazing lunch on our group wine tours.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL DAY OF WINE TASTING IN NORTHERN SONOMA LOOK LIKE?
· Hotel pickup in Sonoma County 9:45-10:45
· Guided discussion of California’s wine history, wine tasting etiquette, and more!
· Start the day with behind the scenes tour and taste through a wine flight
· At the next winery meet a winemaker, or taste wine in the vineyard
· Enjoy a picnic overlooking the vineyards, weather permitting
· Visit the quaint Healdsburg town square for lunch, shopping, or tastings!
· After lunch, visit 2-3 more wineries in Dry Creek Valley
· Return to hotel 5-5:30
