Tromsø, Norway

Trip Type:   Dolphin & Whale Watching
Duration:  5 hours 30 minutes

Family run business with smaller groups to make it more personal. We pick you up in Tromsø by bus, during the drive you can sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery while the marine biologist will tell you all about the whales, and the adventure that awaits. North on kvaløya we will stop at a local fish factory that is 100 years old. You will be provided with an extra layer of clothing and survival suits. Midways into our tour we will have a coffee break, and while we enjoy the coffee we will use a Hydrophone  to listen to the whales below us. We conduct responsible and safe whale watching, aiming never to disturb the whales while they are feeding. The most common whale species are humpback whales and orcas. When we are back at the harbour we offer you a simple taste of traditional fish soup served in paper cups. This is to heat up your fingers and make the perfect ending to a nice day.

This is a trip that is highly recommended for photo enthusiasts or anyone that wants to enjoy close encounters with the whales. We have small groups on each boat that makes it more personal with English speaking boat drivers/guides.

We pick you up in Tromsø by bus and drive to our base camp located north on Whale Island. During the drive you can sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery while your guide and marine biologist will tell you all about the whales, the adventure that awaits and what to look for, and how to spot it while in the boat.

North on kvaløya we will stop at a local fish factory that is 100 years old, here we have our changing room with toilet facilities. You will be provided with an extra layer of clothing and survival suits. Your guide will also give you a short safety briefing before going on board, explaining everything about safety on board, and how your survival suit works. Midways into our tour we will have a coffee break, and while we enjoy the coffee we will use a Hydrophone  to listen to the whales below us…

We conduct responsible and safe whale watching, aiming never to disturb the whales while they are feeding. Our goal is to be more than a safari, therefore we want to invite you to be a part of a research project. This is where they study the migration path, by identifying the whales that are in the area by pictures of their fluke. This helps us to learn more, and you can help us by sending your fluke pictures to us.

Enjoy your adventure exploring the fjords by boat with breathtaking scenery. The most common whale species are humpback whales and orcas, but there are also chances of seeing fin whales and possibly harbor porpoises and other species. Don’t forget to keep your eyes open for other wildlife such as white-tailed eagles and different seabirds, e.g. shags, guillemots, little auks, and the seals that sometimes can be seen resting on the cliffs.

When we are back at the harbour we offer you a simple taste of traditional fish soup served in paper cups. This is to heat up your fingers and make the perfect ending to a nice day.
