Rafting in its true meaning is to be practised in Romania for only a few weeks a year, given the reduced river flow here. Thus this type of adventure is best suitable for spring season, when the snow melts, as for in summer and fall it is best practised in rainy periods. The canyon route on the Jiu river is one of the most spectacular rafting routes in the entire country. The whirling river Jiu flows in a narrow channel bordered by cliffs that are often tens of meters in height. A rafting tour on the Jiu river displays a route dotted with waterfalls, meanderings and jumpers, one that will transpose you from all the monotonous waves of everyday life to the waves of the Jiu river, among a natural landscape which portrays a unique character. The experience will leave you with some truly unforgettable memories.

The Jiu river is a technical river, the route being divided into three sections:
– The higher section (near Petrosani): most technical trail, with class 4 passages.

– The intermediate section (in the Jiu Valley): a route that combines technical passages with seating areas, the river class in this section ranging from between 2 and 3+.

– the lower section (with the ”finish line” being in Bumbesti Jiu): a medium difficulty route, of maximum class 3.

After registration, each person will receive special rafting equipment which includes: neoprene clothing, specific shoes, special helmet for rafting, and oars and a detailed instructing on rafting techniques will be provided. There will be a swimming test. This activity is not recommended to those who cannot swim. Participants’ safety is always a priority. The next step is enjoying a whole load of fun. Depending on the team and of course, on the river flow, the tour can last between 2 and 3 hours. There will be breaks, as well as numerous opportunities for pictures that will perfectly capture the moments of fun and the great times to be had here. At the end of the tour, everyone gets back to the camp.
