An expert local guide will take your group to three of the best eateries in town to try local specialties like chalupas, tuna tostadas and mescal-flavored melted cheese. A tequila tasting follows the eating extravaganza. The tour ends near 5ta Avenida, also known as Fifth Avenue, the city’s main shopping street. Meet your expert local guide in downtown Playa del Carmen and head off to the first of three gourmet restaurants. There are over 300 restaurants in this beachside town, and you get to eat at three of the best. Eat local specialties as well as nicely executed national favorites, including mescal-spiked melted cheese and just-made tortillas, chalupas and tostadas with freshly caught tuna. Wash it all down with fresh juice and finish off each tasting with dessert, such as red fruit crepes. Meet colorful chefs and restaurant owners and chat about the delicious food with fellow tour attendees. Walk with the local guide (you’ll walk about one mile overall) as he or she explains the local food.
