See the Portofino Coast driving a scooter along the winding road from Portofino to Santa Margherita and Sestri Levante. Stop for a coffee in Portofino, have lunch in a typical Trattoria in Rapallo-Montallegro, with a great Sea View, swim in Sestri Levante and drive on winding roads. An 8 hours day trip of phenomenal stunning view and visit Portofino, Santa Margherita, Rapallo.Meet your guide at 9.45 and get your scooter (you need to have driving experience to join this tour) and immediately leave for Portofino where we arrive there after a 10 minutes drive. Park the scooter and discover this unique corner of the world that see thousands of people flock here from all over the world. Since the 50's this wonderful place saw kings, actresses, pop stars and royals spending few days enjoying the quiet and charm of the area.
Go back to the scooter and drive along the same road to Santa Margherita, Rapallo and Montallegro for a total of 15 km up to 600 meters above sea level where the view is stunning. Park the scooter and walk to one of the Holiest Chuches in the Region; it is here that the Virgin Mary appeared to a girl. The Church is great, you will see 'ex voto' (sacred images, icons) that miraculous survivors sent here from all over the world, icons from Mexico earthquake, shipwreck icons from Peru, Argentina, Chile, an endless 'thank you' to the Madonna in a spiritual atmosphere.
Lunch will at a Trattoria in the shade, facing the horizon miles away. The coast will be below you as we are at 1.800 feet above the sea but very close to the sea indeed. Food here is very good and an Antipasto di Salumi as an entreè and a Trenette (Pasta) with pesto will surely satisfy all of us. After lunch travel downhill towards the mountains and after another 25 km, we reach Chiavari and Sestri Levante that is another jewel of the coast and if the weather allows us, there is the opportunity to swim in the Bay of Silence, a lovely beach with calm water. Enjoy a coffee (included) and a bit of sun and rest (bring a towel and sun cream). A small walk in the city center and an Ice cream (included) and it is time to go back to Santa Margherita some 28 km away through a beautiful road reaching a height of 400 meters on sea level; the views are fantastic. Driving up and down hills and mountain roads that have little to no traffic and eating local specialities is surely a fun way to spend a day and indeed 6PM is a perfect time to leave the scooter and finally enjoy a prosecco or a Beer in a local bar.
