Potsdam is famous for its picturesque gardens and palaces. The city is close to Berlin, where the tour will begin. After 20 minutes of your journey you will be able take a stop at Glienicke Bridge. It is known as the "Bridge of Spies", used by the CIA and KGB for spy swaps during the Cold War and location of many famous movies.
During the tour we will see the palace of Cecilienhof. It was the last palace built by the German Emperor's family in English Tudor Style. After the Second World War, it was chosen by the "Big Three", Stalin, Truman and Churchill to become the setting for their famous peace conference.
A highlight of the tour is a visit of the Sanssouci Palace inside (using audio-guides) and a walk through the beautiful park area with its fountains, Chinese tea and dragon houses, and other follies.
For our lunch break we will head back to the old city center of Potsdam with its romantic Dutch Quarter. There are nice cafes, boutiques for shopping and also a market where you can taste regional specialties, before we head back to Berlin.
