This tour will give you the opportunity to enter the atmosphere of Romanian medieval legends, the pervasive myth of Dracula being the most famous. You’ll walk in the footsteps of the bloodthirsty Prince Vlad Tepes up to the royal court in Targoviste, visit Bran Castle or Dracula’s Castle as it has come to be known, and Rasnov fortress, offering breathtaking views. On this tour, you’ll walk in the footsteps of the bloodthirsty Prince Vlad Tepes in the royal court of Targoviste, the former capital of the small kingdom called Wallachia. The court is dominated by Chindia Tower, 27 meters high, perched atop of this the prince would often survey the executions. Legend has it that there is a place right next to the royal court named the “Forest of the Impaled.” The enticing thread of medieval legends continues with our visit to Bran Castle or Dracula’s Castle, an awe-inspiring fortress towering above the main road to Transylvania. Not far off is Rasnov Fortress, offering a breathtaking view of the surroundings.

Bran Castle:
Having become famous over time as “Dracula’s Castle” thanks to Bram Stoker's novel, Bran Castle is one of the chief tourist attractions in Romania. The castle was built in the 13th century, set strategically atop a 60-metre cliff, towering over the most important access route into Transylvania. Over time, thrill-seeking tourists have included the Bran Castle on the list of the scariest castles in the world, drawing on the story of the infamous Vlad the Impaler, who was rumored to have stayed here temporarily.

Rasnov fortress:
The first to build a wooden fortification on this site were the Teutonic knights, attracted here by its strategic position, at the foot of the Carpathians, in a mountain pass connecting Transylvania and Walachia. Later on in the 16th century the site was taken over by the locals, who used it as a place of refuge during Tartar and Ottoman invasions; this is why it was known historically as a “peasant fortress”.
