Behind the Gates Tours focus is on small family owned wineries located in Napa and Sonoma County that produce less than 3000 cases of wine annually. These wineries are private and by appointment only. In most cases the owner of the winery will be the presenting their wines. Because the private wine tastings are by appointment only there will be no other tours at that winery.The tours begin between 10:00 and 11:00 AM and tend to run 6 to 7 hours on average. This leaves a sufficient amount of time to schedule 4 private tastings. Guests will be picked up and dropped off at their place of lodging. A nice assortment of cheeses and bottled water will be provided at no additional cost. These will enhance the winery experience and add to the enjoyment of the wines. Because the wine production is so small at these wines are only available at the winery. It is recommended that any interested buyers should make their purchases at the time of the wine tasting. Each of these wineries do have a wine club that will allow you to get future vintages of their wines should you so desire. The average wine tasting lasts between 1 to 1.5 hours.
