Discover Mont Saint Michel in a private tour by minivan with the help of a licensed guide in this 13-hour day trip from Paris.Surrounded by the sea with one of the highest tidal ranges in the world, the Mont St. Michel is simply unique. You'll start your tour with a pickup from your Paris hotel at 7:30am for a 3-hour drive. The English-speaking guide will escort you there in a comfortable air-conditioned minivan, either a Mercedes Viano or VW Caravelle model, to the Mont Saint Michel. While on route, your guide will stop at a service station for a short rest stop for coffee, refreshments, etc.
From there, the tour continues through Normandy. Once parked, a shuttle is required to go from the parking to the Mont where you will start exploring. The Mont was formed from a massive granite rock in the middle of a shallow bay, where it was chosen by Christianity to house a sacred abbey dedicated to the archangel, Saint Michel. The tour begins with a guided visit of the Abbey founded by Aubert at the beginning of the 8th Century, and how it became a major cultural and pilgrimage center during the middle ages. You will admire the Romanesque Church, the Gothic “Marvel” with the monk’s Cloisters and Refectory, the Knights Room, the Guest Room, the Undercroft, the Refectory, as well as various chapels : St. Stephen, St.Martin, Our Lady Underground, St. Mary Magdalene, Crypt of the 30 Candles. After lunch, you'll get a chance to stroll through the steep-sided narrow streets of the town and its ramparts.
Once finished, your guide will start the journey back to your hotel and will arrive there around 7 or 8 pm.
