Thanks to the proactive professionalism of Ju-An, the Japanese tradition of the tea ceremony has become a tourist attraction for visitors of Kyoto as well as the rest of Japan. The form, beauty and spirit of this quintessential ancient Japanese custom paired with the Japanese mindset of omotenashi (hospitality) and ichigo ichie (one chance in a lifetime) make this workshop one of the highlights of your trip to Kyoto. Ju-An strives to provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience that our honorable guests can cherish and remember for the rest of their lives.

The Tea Ceremony Room Ju-An is the only authentic, zen-consecrated Japanese tea ceremony room in Kyoto where you can experience Japanese tea ceremony in the form of a private workshop.

Ju-An is unique in Kyoto in that it was purposefully built exclusively for performing the Japanese Tea Ceremony. It is not a cafe or tea shop but a dedicated chashitsu for performing the Japanese Tea Ceremony, chanoyu. much like those found in temples and shrines in Kyoto.
