In the morning, pay a visit to Cu Chi - a historic region of the Vietnam/US War, where you can eyewitness a three level deep tunnel system that stretches from Saigon to the Vietnam-Cambodia border. Your coach leaves from Ho Chi Minh City, bright and early. Make sure you've had your morning coffee because you won't want to miss the typical southern Vietnamese scenery en route to the Cu Chi District. As the bus escapes the built up city, rice paddies and traditional village life will provide an interesting contrast to frantic nature of Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival, the tour begins. During the American War in the 1960s, the Cu Chi Tunnels were vital to the Viet Cong resistance, providing essential supply lines, make-shift hospitals, cover from American attacks and weapon factories. At their most prolific, the tunnels stretched over 250km between Ho Chi Minh and the Cambodian border. During this tour, you will explore the Ben Dinh or Ben Duoc sections of the tunnel where you can begin to appreciate what life might have been like for a Viet Cong soldier, scheming and fighting from deep underneath the Vietnamese earth. For the more adventurous, there is an opportunity to visit the shooting range to fire off a few rounds with an AK-47 or Russian Carbine rifle (not included).
