Once in Petra, your driver will take you to the Petra Visitor Center to arrange your ticket and local Petra guide and prepare your tour. You are welcome to browse the Center before or after your tour. A horse and carriage are available for hire, just ask your driver or guide for assistance. Petra is a rich day full of history and stories and your local guide will be with you until the Treasury and beyond, so remember wear comfortable walking shoes.
The towering Treasury is first glimpse and is breathtaking as you end the Siq to continue the rest of your tour into the Petra Valley. It is recommended that you take photos around the entrance of the Treasury prior to your walk towards the Roman-like Theater from the early 1st century AD, and the countless temples, altars, and colonnaded streets; though don’t go far from your guide as they share the Nabataeans stories. There are several vendors selling cold drinks, snack and souvenirs owned and operated by the local Bedouins. By this time, you have covered the highlights of Petra and it is suggestd that you return back towards the entrance to meet your driver at the pick-up agreed location for your journey back to Amman or the Dead Sea.
