This private 2-day tour will let you explore the authentic hill tribes of Chiang Mai, such as the Karen and Akha, in a responsible way. Travel with a local hill tribe guide, he will open up cultural doors for you to experience hill tribe daily lifestyle. We travel through the lush countryside of Chiang Mai, enjoy the nature and explore local life along the way. Stay overnight with a hill tribe family at their homestay and enjoy a cultural immersion experience.Day 1: You will be picked up from your hotel at 8am and head to Doi Angkhang mountain, approximately 2-hour drive from Chiang Mai town. Enjoy the landscapes as we drive up this sweeping mountain range, beautiful garden, agricultural areas and visit an outlook point which overlooks the Thailand-Myanmar border.
A cluster of peaks and valleys this is home to colorful minorities, we will visit Lahu and Palong hill tribe villages. Descend Doi Angkhang and onto a Karen hill tribe village. Meet your host family, enjoy a traditional hill tribe dinner together. You will stay overnight at Karen hill tribe (homestay), and please note that the meals and accommodation are not included (please refer to additional information for extra charges).
Day 2: After breakfast, you will learn and explore Karen village lifestyle. We will take a short trek to the farm and around hill tribe villages. You will see many beautiful flowers and vegetables grown in the farm. You are welcome to join the farmer for rice planting or harvesting (depending on the seasons).
We will then visit Akha hill tribe community located at tourism village (ticket not included). After you have purchased your entrance ticket, a local Akha guide will show you around Akha Hill House surrounded by natural, plantation, rice field and traditional life (hunting and weaving). After the tour at Akha hill tribe, we will return to Chiang Mai and the journey will take approximately 3-hour. Once we reached Chiang Mai, you will be transferred back to your hotel safely.
