Embark on this 9.5-hour private tour of Yogyakarta and immerse yourself in the cultural experience. Venture to the Kraton and learn about why the "Sultan Palace" serves as a model of traditional Javanese architecture. Observe Borobudur, a Mahayana Buddhist Temple, that is also a structural beauty in itself. Finally, visit the Prambanan Temple before returning to your accommodations. An English-speaking guide will arrive at your centrally located Yogyakarta hotel at 8:30am. From there, head to Borobudur, the world's biggest Buddhist monument complex dated from the 8th and 9th Century. The temple is considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World andsits majestically on a hilltop overlooking lush green fields and distant hills. It was rediscovered in 1815 buried under volcanic ash and was restored with the help of UNESCO in the 1970s.

The journey continues in Yogyakarta’s old city to visit Kraton, the Sultan's Palace. It is a grand complex that reflects the Javanese cosmos. Kraton was not only designed to be a royal residence but also to be a focal point of the Sultan’s entire kingdom. After lunch, continue to Kota Gede, a historic neighborhood in Yogyakarta, famous for its silver industry since the 1930's. It was the first capital of the Islamic Mataram kingdom, founded by Panembahan Senopati in 1582.

The last stop will be the Prambanan temple complex which was erected in the middle of the 9th century. As the largest Hindu temple in Southeast Asia, it is located fairly close to the Buddhist temple, Borobudur. This shows that on Java, Buddhists and Hindus lived peacefully next to each other. After the trip, return to your centrally located Yogyakarta hotel.
