You'll walk across the well-known Five Great Avenues, visit the beautiful Porcelain House, experience Tianjin food at the popular food street, visit the Ancient Culture Street(Gu Wenhua Jie), and enjoy some leisure time at the Italian Style Street.
Your guide in Beijing will meet you at your hotel lobby and take you to Beijing South Railway Station for a high speed train to Tianjin.
Upon arrival in Tianjin, another guide will meet you at the train station. You will then take subway to visit the Porcelain House (exterior visit).
The Porcelain House is a French-style building embellished with ceramics. The windows, doors, pillars, eaves, and roof are all exquisitely decorated with different china wares. Moreover, you will find beautiful porcelain decorations on the handrails, ceilings, and walls inside the house. The house is so extraordinary that it has no parallel in the world.
Then you will move to Tianjin Five Great Avenues – a government concession area during early 20th century.
Five Great Avenues is located in the south of the downtown. There are over 230 buildings of all kinds from the architecture of Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. In the 20th century, Tianjin's position in China had become special and important. On one hand, social and political unrest made concessions a haven for ousted politicians and businessmen; on the other hand, Tianjin was geographically well-placed for transportation and duty-free customs. Various dignitaries and rich people lived in Tianjin. Living in a small Western-style house was more comfortable and convenient than a traditional courtyard and the Five Great Avenue was located in a prime location of the British concession. The neighborhood became Tianjin's rich area at that time.
While walking through the Avenues, your guide will give you more detailed explanations and will point out some significant buildings. You will then be taken to the popular Food Street, where you can have your choice of lunch options.
After lunch, you will visit to Ancient Culture Street and Italian Style Street. Ancient Cultural Street is located on the west bank of the Haihe River. Although essentially a business street, it attracts visitors who come to see its special architectural styles, admire its classic cultural features, buy various folk crafts, and sample the delicious local snacks. Above all, as visitors take a walk there, they will be particularly impressed by the splendid replica classical architecture in the folk style of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
Italian Style Street, located at Marco Polo Square, is a tourist attraction with Italian style buildings where there are shops, stands, bars and restaurants. It was known as the only concession outside of Italy and now is a unique large Italian-style building in Asia.
After some leisure time on Italian Street, you will walk back to train station for high speed train to Beijing. And drop you off at your hotel.
