This 5-hour private half-day trip from Prague will take you to Karlstejn Castle, one of the most famous castles in Czech Republic and previously a safekeeping place for the coronation jewels. Both the interior and the exterior of the Gothic castle of Karlstejn are artistically very rich.
Your private driver and guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel, from where your half-day trip starts. After an approximate 45-minute drive from Prague, you will reach Karlstejn. Your driver will wait at the parking lot while your guide will take you up the hill to the castle.
The Gothic castle was built in 1348 by Czech King and Roman Emperor Charles IV and used to serve as a place for safekeeping of the royal treasures -- especially Charles's collection of holy relics and the coronation jewels of the Holy Roman Empire.
Explore the private and representative halls of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV including the historical interiors of the Imperial Palace. Also enter the lower floors of the Marian Tower with its valuable equipment of the 14-19th century. You will further see Courtier's Hall, Hall of Knights and Chapel of St. Nicolas, Chapter Deanery, Royal Bedroom, Audience and Banquet Halls, Hall of Ancestors, Treasury and Jewels Hall as well as the former castle prison.
After your castle tour you will have time for shopping in the local souvenir shops. Get recommendations from your guide on nice restaurant for a traditional Czech lunch (not included in the price), after which you will be transferred back to Prague.
