Lastly, delve into San Sebastian, from where Christopher Columbus once sailed, before your return to Tenerife.Start your private full-day tour with a pickup from your Tenerife hotel. Hop inside your air-conditioned minivan and travel to Los Cristianos for your ferry crossing to La Gomera, the island just off Tenerife’s south coast.
After a crossing of roughly an hour, travel by minibus from La Gomera’s capital, San Sebastian, to Garajonay National Park.
Take a stroll around the beautiful UNESCO-protected reserve to see its ancient rain forest. Then, continue to the viewpoint of Mirador de Agando for spectacular views of the towering rock spire: Roque de Agando. If the weather allows, continue to Mirador de Vallehermoso to admire far-reaching views over the La Gomera mountains.
Break for lunch (own expense) at a country restaurant and watch a demonstration of silbo, the islanders’ traditional whistled language, which was once used to communicate across ravines.
Afterward, return to historical San Sebastian. Saunter around the palm-dotted town and visit the 15th-century defense tower of Conde Tower, as well as Customs House, from where Christopher Columbus is said to have collected water before his 1492 Atlantic voyage.
Relax on your ferry back to Tenerife, and then finish your tour with a hotel drop-off.
