Enjoy tour in Premium traditional houseboat or sometimes called riceboat kettuvallam starting with lunch boat cruise across backwater of Alleppey. Experience firsthand the toddy tapping, fishing for small fry, coir-making, prawn farming and more, which remain more or less unchanged over the years. End the evening with tea, snacks and cozy dinner with overnight stay on a houseboat.We will pick you up at the selected hotels in Alleppy (please refer to Departure Point for details) before noon and leave for Alleppy Jetty. The house boats are fully furnished 1, 2, 3-bedroom units with sundeck and private balcony with comfortable chairs, kitchen and toilet. In addition there is also a separate rest room for the crew. Traditional lanterns are used as lights.
Day 1:
Check in at 12.30 noon at Alleppey in Premium AC Houseboat and start cruising through the Punnamada Lake, venue of the famous Nehru Trophy Boat Race. Enter the enchanting waters of the Vembanad Lake and enjoy the panoramic views and the glimpses of the life along the banks. Visit Chavara Bhavan, the old wooden house where the blessed Kuriakore Elias Chavara was born. Anchor for night stay at Marthaandam around 5.30 pm.
The cuisine is traditional Kerala flavor with the local specialties; delicious local fish (Pearlspot - Karimeen) and prawns.
Kettuvalloms or Houseboats (Riceboats) are country boats that were used in the early days for the transport of goods from the isolated interior villages to the towns. With the advent of roads, bridges and ferry services, gradually the kettuvalloms went off the scene. Now these kettuvalloms are back again as a major tourist attraction. A ride on a kettuvallom is a fabulous way to explore the fascinating beauty of the backwaters.
Day 2:
Next day morning cruising through SNDP canal, Kuppappuram, Vilakkumaram thodu to reach jetty. Check out by 9.30 AM in Alleppey. Hotel drop-off is not included. However, our local representative can arrange suitable transfer for you for your onward destination.
