Your houseboat cruises across backwater of Kumarakom where you experience firsthand the life style of toddy tapping, fishing for small fry, coir-making, prawn farming and more which remains almost the same since the old days. Relax on the houseboat and enjoy tea, snacks and cozy dinner on the Vembanad lake in Kumarakom.
Day 1:
Kumarakom is a cluster of small islands on the Vembanad lake. It has a vast network of rivers and canals. The houseboat will pick you up from the listed hotels in Kumarakom (please refer to Departure Point for details) by 12:30 noon. Start cruising through the Vemband Lake and reach R Block, C Block where paddy is cultivated below sea level. At 1:30pm anchor for lunch at Charukayal and after lunch continue cruising to Kainakary. Visit Chavara Bhavan, a 400-year-old wooden house, and take a village walk. Afterwards cruise through small canals to reach Vembanad Lake for sunset. Anchor overnight at 6pm followed by a cozy dinner.
Day 2:
In the morning, continue cruising through SNDP canal, Kuppappuram and Vilakkumaram to reach boat jetty. Check out from your houseboat in Kumarakom by 9:30am and we can drop you off at Alleppy Boat Jetty or the selected hotels in Kumarakom (please refer to Departure Point for hotel details).
