If you’re staying in Bari, enjoy a convenient pickup from your hotel in the morning, and relax on the 1-hour journey to Alberobello. Alternatively, meet your private guide in the center of Alberobello. As you walk through the town, chat about the famous trulli and take the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. The beauty of having a private guide at your side is that the commentary is tailored to your interests.

The charming town draws visitors from around the world to marvel at its unique buildings. Learn how these beehive-shaped houses were built by peasants in the mid-14th century under the rule of the Earls of Conversano, and constructed out of limestone found in the soil or in caves. As the landlords wanted the peasants to pay taxes each time they built a village, these mortar-less buildings were ideal since they could be easily destroyed in case of inspection from the king's soldiers. Hundreds of years later, the trulli are still intact, earning them a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage list as remarkable examples of prehistoric construction techniques.

While hearing historical facts aplenty about the town's unique houses, stroll to the Old Town quarter of Rione Monti where more than 1,000 trulli cascade down the hillside. In the modern part of town, visit Trullo Sovrano, the only two-floor trullo in the town, built by a wealthy priest’s family in the 18th century. Get a glimpse of what life was like inside these sweet little homes, and browse books and mementos in the souvenir shop.

End your walking tour with a relaxing wine tasting at a local winery. Visit the estate's wine museum and taste three glasses of different Puglia wine, each paired with pretzels and olives.

Then, either reboard your private vehicle for the journey back to your Bari hotel, or bid your guide goodbye outside the winery in Alberobello.
