Discover the places where Kiev was founded more than 1500 years ago on a 3-hour private walking tour and see the most important historical sights. The oldest part of Kiev is known as a town of Prince Yaroslav the Wise and a town of his father - Prince Vladimir the Great. You will feel the spirit of ancient times, walking through the paved streets and listening to the stories about Kiev history. From the St. Sophia Cathedral to the Golden Gates, this tour is an excellent way to explore Kiev. You will start your walking tour from the famous Golden Gates, which were the main entrance to the town of Kiev during the ruling of Prince Yaroslav the Wise. The name “Golden Gates” proceeds from the beauty of this building and not from the material it is made of. You guide will show you the Yaroslav the Wise Statue, situated nearby.

Then you will pass towards the St. Sophia Square and admire the amazing National Reserve Sophia Kievskaya. It was founded in XI century and is one of the most significant constructions of old Kiev, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. (The visit of the St. Sophia Cathedral is optional, for an additional fee). In front of the St. Sophia Cathedral there is an impressive Hetman Bohdan Khmelnitskiy Monument.

Our tour continues as we visit St. Michael’s Golden Domed Cathedral. You will uncover the history of this sight and find out that the original old Cathedral was ruined during the Soviet period but it was rebuilt 15 years ago. Now it is a male Monastery and you can visit it and admire its splendid interior. The Princess Olha Monument, who was one of the first Christian rulers of Kiev, is standing in front of the Monastery.

Then you will come to the oldest part of Kiev – the town of Prince Vladimir the Great. Not many sight are left from that period, however you can still see the place of the entrance to Vladimir town, marked with the red stones on the road. The pearl of this walking tour is St. Andrew’s Church, located right near the Starokievska Mountain, which is the cradle of Kiev. It was built in the Baroque style 300 years ago and now it’s one of the must-see sights of Kiev.

Then, travelling from the antiquity to the present days you will enjoy a pleasant walk through the central part pf the city - Kreschatik Street and Maidan Nezalezhnosti. This tour ends in the city center.
