Explore the wonderful city of Évora to see the Roman ruins and learn about the city’s rich history. Visit the Saint José de Peramanca Vineyard for a delicious wine-tasting.Depart from Lisbon, and travel through the beautiful countryside of Alentejo. When you arrive in Évora, you will begin your tour in the city center at Geraldo Square, named after ‘Gerald the Fearless’ who seized the city from the Moors in the 12th century.
Continue on to the Templo de Diana (Diana’s Temple), originally the city’s meeting place. Not far from here, you will visit the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, a 13th century, Gothic building.
After lunch, visit the Igreja São Francisco de Assis where you can enter the Capela dos Ossos (Chapel of Bones).
Stop by the Saint José de Peramanca Vineyard with its Baroque mansion for a wine tasting. Lastly, visit the Cromeleque dos Almendres, a megalithic monument which dates back to the beginning of the 3rd millennium BC and is considered the largest such monument in the Iberian Peninsula.
