Enjoy city sightseeing combined with a zipline adventure on a shore excursion to Antigua Guatemala. After your cruise ship docks in the port of Puerto Quetzal, walk with a local guide around the central plaza of the city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit colonial landmarks, such as La Merced Church and the main cathedral, and pass under the 17th-century Santa Catalina Arch. Then zoom through the trees on an 8-course zipline and marvel at the breathtaking views! Lunch and round-trip transport from the cruise terminal are included.
Your shore excursion begins with pickup at the Puerto Quetzal cruise port and transfer to Antigua Guatemala (Old Guatemala City). Due to its charming style, Spanish colonial buildings and folkloric cultural traditions, this former capital of Guatemala has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Follow your guide on a 1.5-hour walking tour to the town’s top attractions, strolling along cobblestone streets past lovely churches, squares and parks along the way. Look up at the two bell towers that border the Baroque-style façade of La Merced Church and see Antigua’s largest fountain, Nuestra Señora de la Merced, in the church courtyard. Visit the town’s main plaza and admire the whitewashed walls of its impressive main cathedral. Your guide will point out a section that was rebuilt after the Santa Marta earthquake of 1773.

Walk to one of Antigua’s most distinguishable landmarks and pass under the Santa Catalina Arch. Built in 1694, the concealed passageway allowed cloistered nuns to cross from the Santa Catalina convent to the other side of the street.

After your walking tour of Antigua, re-board the coach and continue to the site where your zipline adventure begins. You’ll find a series of platforms built in the trees or in stone on the forest floor for easy observation of the landscape, including Volcán de Agua, which towers nearby. With eight cables, two hanging bridges and one tower, this fun zipline course is great for lovers of extreme sports and those with no prior experience. Licensed guides will offer a briefing, fit you with proper equipment and ensure your safety as you soar across the canopy!

Afterward, enjoy a delicious homemade-style lunch (beverages not included) with flavors characteristic of the region. At the end of your shore excursion, you’ll be transported back to the cruise terminal around 2:30pm.
