Explore mangrove swamps by horseback and spot the slender snouts of crocodiles. This morning eco-adventure tour from Negril whisks you to Rhodes Hall Plantation, where a guide leads you from the coastline into a dense jungle teeming with the sights and sounds of wildlife. Then, snorkel in the open expanse of Half Moon Bay and swim within reaching distance of sea urchins, tropical fish and anemone. Convenient hotel transport is included. After morning pickup by minivan from your Negril hotel, travel north to the seaside Rhodes Hall Plantation, a historic Jamaican estate that spans 500 acres (202 hectares) of diverse terrain, where 70 horses freely roam the grounds.

Upon arrival, receive a safety briefing and learn basic horseback-riding techniques from your guide. You’ll be paired up with a horse that matches your riding experience; this 2-hour horseback ride is suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders.

Follow your guide’s lead along the beach, past plantation homes, learning about Jamaican history along the way, and into the thicket of undeveloped tropical forest. Your guide provides engaging commentary about the animal and indigenous plant life you see during your ride.

In this bird sanctuary, spot and listen for the calls of roosters, parrots, peacocks, myna birds, sandpipers, herons and more. Your horse clops along past ancient bamboo and up hills providing great views of Negril. Stop near the mangrove swamps, one of the largest crocodile habitats in western Jamaica, and keep your eyes peeled for rippling movements in the water or the telltale slender snout.

Next, take a short drive to the secluded Half Moon Beach for your 45-minute snorkel outing and hop in a motorboat that zips you into the waters shielded by coral reef. Slip on your mask and fins, and jump in! In the warm and shallow waters, enjoy close-up views of sea urchins, tropical fish, lobster, eels, anemone and sea stars.

After a fantastic morning with nature, your tour ends with hotel drop-off in Negril.
