This easygoing rafting tour takes place one of the most popular rafting rivers of Finland, the rafting family route Käylä-Juuma. The excursion is suitable for children from 5 years of age. At the start of your tour, you will meet your guide in the village Juuma, near Oulanka National Park, where you get all the equipment needed including a rain coat and pants, rubber boots, helmet and life vest. If you are arriving from Ruka, the drive takes approx. 20 minutes and from Kuusamo approx. 45 minutes.
Car transportation will be provided from Juuma to Käylä village where the rafting trip starts. Your guide will give you safety instructions before heading off to the river. The route follows river Kitka from Käylä back to Juuma where the tour starts.
This family friendly 14 km (8.7mi) route lasts approx. 2-2.5 hours and allows you to experience seven rapids and beautiful surroundings. White water classifications I-III.
All the required equipment is included (rain coat and pants, rubber boots, helmet and life vest). The equipment is provided for your safety as well as to protect your own clothing from getting wet. However, your clothes might get a bit wet during the tour. On a hot day you might want to leave out the rain coat and pants, your guides will provide tips for the concerned day, due to prevailing weather conditions.
You will be in good hands, as your guides are well trained in skippering white water rafting as well as safety and rescue matters.
Transfers from accommodations in Ruka and Kuusamo to the starting point in Juuma village can be provided at extra cost. Please inform the local provider should this be required.
